Welcome to The Heart of a Father book-in-the-works project.

I am glad you have chosen to consider being part of this special group of men who will be sharing information about how their lives have been affected by congenital heart defects (CHDs). Among the contributors are fathers, grandfathers and men who were born with CHDs.

You can go to the online group associated with Heart of a Father by clicking on this button:

It will take you to the BookHOF at Yahoo.com. You should probably check out the Archives because you will find much more information there than is listed in this welcome note.

On this website you will find a Tentative Table of Contents .

Additionally, there is a Frequently Asked Questions page (FAQ).

If you have any questions about this project, please check there first. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please feel free to contact me, Anna Jaworski, at ajaworski@aol.com

Update Thursday, January 03, 2008
The Heart of a Father Update: We are making great progress on The Heart of a Father! We have completed copy editing and line editing for a third of the book; however, we are still accepting essays for two chapters: Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Catch 22. The only essays we are interested in for the HLHS chapter are "successful transplant essays."

The Catch 22 chapter is very special. It is for essays that deal with "dads in a Catch 22 situation" -- a situation in which a desired outcome or solution is impossible to attain because of a set of inherently illogical rules or conditions. Essays for this chapter could be written by a father who couldn't get off from work to be at the hospital as much as he wanted to when his child was hospitalized because he had to work to keep the insurance and have the income needed for his child to get the medical care needed. Or it could be a situation where a father has to stay home to work and/or care for other children but his child and wife have to go far from home to another city, state or even country. We have two excellent essays for this chapter, but would be willing to consider one additional essay.

If you are interested in writing for one of these chapters, please email Anna at ajaworski@aol.com or Bob at bdaigneault@rr.hot.com .
