When a Book Is Needed—and I Missed the Moment
There are moments as a publisher that stay with you—not because of sales or numbers, but because of people.
Earlier this month, a family attempted to order one of our books through Amazon during a time of apparent urgency. Due to an inventory gap and missed notifications on my end, I didn’t see their messages in time. The order was ultimately canceled, and Amazon no longer provides contact information once that happens.
I don’t know who they are. I don’t know what they were facing. And that is what breaks my heart.
Baby Hearts Press exists for families navigating medical uncertainty, fear, waiting rooms, and long nights. Our books are meant to be companions in those moments—quiet reassurance that someone else has been there too. Knowing that a family reached for one of our books and I wasn’t able to respond in time weighs heavily on me.
To that family, if you ever happen to read this:
I am so deeply sorry I wasn’t there when you needed the book. I hope with all my heart that your storm has passed, that your loved one is safe, and that you are back home, surrounded by care and support.
I am sending another shipment of books to Amazon this weekend so copies will once again be available. Baby Hearts Press is a small, mission-driven publisher, and while that sometimes means systems aren’t perfect, please know this: every message, every order, every family matters deeply to me.
If you ever need a book urgently and don’t hear back right away, please reach out through our website or email directly. I will always respond as soon as I see the need.
Thank you for your grace, your patience, and for trusting our books to walk beside you during hard moments.
With care,
Anna Jaworski
