Families affected by CHDs, nurses and doctors working with patients with CHDs and Heart Warriors like Brandon Lane Phillips, MD were among those who voted for the book.
"… this book really helped me understand the impact of congenital heart disease on a person, his family and friends better...”
~ Pediatric Cardiologist
"I enjoyed this book… Brandon had a dream and did not let CHD dictate the path of his dream. He pursues it despite obstacles placed in his path. Jeremy also was instrumental in Brandon’s life. He treated Brandon as a person. Jeremy did not see a kid born with CHD. In fact, he saw a person with a huge heart that helped him in his own obstacles. After all, this book is truly about heart. It’s about the heart of a person born with CHD,but it also is about how in one having this defect, in fact two hearts were healed.”
~ Friend of a Heart Warrior
"This book is a reminder that we never give up on our dreams or goals. Even in the midst of likely death, hope can exist! One step at a time, one day at a time, Brandon reached for his goal and despite a multitude of roadblocks and setbacks; he never gave up! What an inspiration! I hope that my teenage granddaughter will read this book...not because of any heart issues, but because of a severe medical issue and surgery a couple of years ago. She also wants a career in the health field and is very driven. I want her to be inspired by Brandon's non-stop determination toward her own goals.”
~ Relative of Adult Family Member with Heart Issues
